BFC Refugee Support Grant

The Refugee Support Grant is made available for families experiencing financial hardship and are therefore not in a position to fund their child’s education support needs or extra curricula activities. Specifically, funding could be used for items and activities related to the school environment such as:

  • Laptops for completing schoolwork
  • School uniform
  • Stationary and other school set up equipment
  • Extra curricula activities such as school trips or clubs

The fund is capped to a maximum of £800 per pupil.

This grant cannot fund direct teaching costs such as for 1:1 tuition

Bracknell Forest resident refugees or refugees attending Bracknell Forest schools would be eligible for this support. This includes children from both Ukraine schemes and those from the Afghan or Syrian refugee schemes, where they still have a need for education support.

This support can be accessed via Schools and the council’s Family Link workers.

The financial position of the host, where relevant, would not generally be considered as part of this assessment.

A grant application form can be completed and submitted by the school or link worker.
