Make a Quilt morning
Learn how to make a quilt using traditional patchwork designs such as tumbling blocks, grandmother’s fan and log cabin.
Contact Simone through SHP before the first lesson so she can talk you through what you will need in terms of fabric and equipment.
Simone was brought up in Los Angeles in the USA, but 40 years ago settled in the UK when she married her English husband, John. She has always been interested in various different forms of needlecraft, knitting, crochet, needlepoint and embroidery but about 35 years ago she embraced quilting in a big way! There is something about designing and creating a quilt that she finds very comforting and satisfying. Simone studied for my City & Guilds qualification In Patchwork & Quilting, completed a Bachelor’s degree in Art in the Community, and for the last 30 years has been teaching quiltmaking and other assorted needlecafts. She has been teaching at South Hill Park for the last 10 years. Many of her students stay with her after making their initial quilt to improve their skills and learn more advanced techniques.
