Yu, Yao - Yao's Childminding

I am open from 1st June, have one full time space from Sep 2020.

My name is YAO and I am newly registered child minder from Sep 2018. I would like to welcome you to YAO’ Bilingual Child Minding. I live with my 2 lovely children. My Son was born in 2011 and My daughter was born in 2016. We have been living here since 2012 August.

I moved to UK from China since 2010, and I have been working as different roles before becoming a child minder. I used to run a food business for 2 years in surrey and then working in Administration and travel industry afterwards for a few years.

After having my second child, I decided to become a childminder as I love being around children and teach them and watch them grow and learn, mean while I can spend more time with my own children.

I provide a very warm happy and child friendly home. I can offer a selection of activities (depending on age) to stimulate and develop your child’s mind, these include jigsaws, bricks, reading, colouring, painting, play-doh, cooking, exercising, dancing, singing and much more. I have a large secure garden with plenty of space for the children to play and develop.

I love working with children. I enjoy my job looking after children, we go on regular outings and visits to toddler groups, library, farm, forest and the local parks and duck ponds etc to ensure your child enjoys varied and stimulating experiences. . The little ones and I tend to go to two-three toddler groups per week. These toddler groups are carefully chosen to bring out the best in the children in my care. The groups are not too big, but lots of children to mix with and lots of different toys to play with , also each has an arts and craft table. Some outing can be spontaneous - making the most of a sunny or unexpectedly snowy day.

I ensure that the children always have fun and stimulating activities to participate in and I always make time for the them to get some physical exercise either in the garden, at the park or, on rainy days, in the house.

My mother tongue is Mandarin(Chinese), English is my second language. Paediatrician Dr. Gwendolyn Delaney agrees. "The earlier the better. Studies have shown that children exposed to more than one language have greater tissue density in the areas of the brain related to language, memory and attention. The effect is particularly strong when the additional language is introduced before age 5."

My aim is to provide quality care and education in a bilingual, stable, caring environment. I expect that children who join my setting will learn to understand a language in a natural and direct way, similar to how they learned their mother tongue.

On top of above, I have a great understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage to teach children and help them to develop and grow into happy confident children, in a safe and caring environment.
