Conservation Volunteer
Practical conservation activities you can get involved with run by our Parks and Countryside Rangers or by getting in touch with local volunteer groups include:
- pond clearance, coppicing, hedge laying, scrub clearance and tree planting
- creating new wildlife features such as hedgerows and stag beetle loggeries
- improving access to the countryside by building and managing footpaths and footbridges
- helping local volunteer groups with office administration, running publicity stalls, raising funds and organising events
- surveying and monitoring wildlife and habitats
There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer:
- to gain skills/experience to change careers or get a job
- to support an issue that you or a member of your family have been affected by
- to gain confidence in returning to the workplace
- to improve confidence or self-esteem
- to give something back to your community
